Released on March, 14, 2025, Heat Wave Arena is the ninth Japanese subset from the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet era. It is the Japanese counterpart of the upcoming English set, Destined Rivals (releasing May 2025).

Heat Wave Arena contains 63 main set cards and 29 Secret Rares. The set continues to feature the “Trainer’s Pokémon” cards re-introduced in Battle Partners. The trainers spotlighted in Heat Wave Arena are Ethan, Cynthia, Arven, and a trainer from the original release of Trainer’s Pokémon cards, Misty!

The pack art of Heat Wave Arena features Ethan’s Ho-Oh, and the Special Art Rare for it has been compared to the Lugia V Secret Rare from Silver Tempest / Paradigm Trigger. The other two Pokémon found on the pack art, Cynthia's Garchomp and Arven's Mabosstiff both featured in their own SARs as well!

Curious as to which cards are the most valuable from Heat Wave Arena? Here are the Top 12. (compiled from various sources such as TCGPlayer, Collectr, Pricecharting, etc.)

Pokémon Ranger Kat's Bonus Pick: Channeling my inner horse girl when I say that this card is just SO pretty. The soft illustration style, the complimentary colors (that echo the pack art!), the poetic juxtaposition of a fire horse running through a field of flowers... I can’t wait to get my hands on this card and see how it looks IRL!
