Released on November 8, 2024, Surging Sparks is the eighth English main set from the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet series. It is the English counterpart to the Japanese sets Supercharged Breaker and Paradise Dragons.
There are a total of 252 cards in Surging Sparks, including 23 Illustration Rares, 21 Ultra Rares, 11 Special Illustration Rares, and 6 Hyper Rares.
Move over Grey Felt Hat Pikachu, there’s a new behatted Pikachu in town. With Booster Box and Elite Trainer Box artwork featuring the crystal crowned electric-mouse, Stellar Terastal Pikachu is the supercharged star of this show, no cap.
In addition to Pikachu, several dragon-type Pokémon are featured in this set, including the Gen III Legendaries, Latias and Latios, who soar together across a shared sunset in a pair of connecting art cards.
Surging Sparks continues to introduce more Stellar-type Tera Pokémon ex to the game. There is also a general theme of Blueberry Academy, the school from Unova featured in the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet game DLC, The Indigo Disk, in the card art, trainers, and Pokémon.
Curious as to which cards are the most valuable from Surging Sparks? Here are the Top 12 (compiled from various sources such as TCGPlayer, Collector, Pricecharting, etc.)
Pokémon Ranger Kat's Bonus Pick: Is this pick hair envy? I think it’s hair envy. Alolan Dugrio has some of the most luscious locks in the world of Pokémon (maybe only second to Mega Ampharos, but I’m biased) and I’m happy TPCI decided to celebrate this fact with this Illustration Rare! 💇♀️
